About the «Community Empowerment Network» Project's web-portal

The Community Empowerment Network (CEN) Project was initiated by the World Bank Institute's Community Empowerment and Social Inclusion Program (CESI) and the Poverty and Growth Program (PGP), together with the Ecology and Social Sustainably Development Group (ECSSD) in the ECA Region - to support the development of networks to share knowledge and experience in local communities capacity building.

The overall objective of the Network is to increase the effectiveness of community-based initiatives by facilitating enhanced access to quality capacity building and knowledge sharing on community empowerment.

Community Empowerment Network web-portal is an extensive on-line resource on local communities capacity building issues and for the development of effective programs on welfare improvement and poverty reduction. It also serves as a data base of publications on development topics and information support of community based organizations and stakeholders.
